Building a Brighter Future Together
We are absolutely thrilled to share a monumental milestone in our journey of supporting local youth and families! BGC Fort Saskatchewan is officially expanding. We are adding a brand-new expansion adjacent to our existing clubhouse, which will bring 124 additional licensed childcare spaces to our community for children aged 3, 4, and 5.
For 40 years, BGC Fort Saskatchewan has been a cornerstone of this community. This transformation allows us to significantly grow our capacity, get parents off waitlists, and ensure more children have a safe place to belong, grow, and thrive.
Empowered by Government Partnerships
This project is made possible through incredible teamwork and a shared vision for accessible, quality childcare. We received a $3.3 million grant from the Building Blocks Capital Grant Program, funded through the Canada-Alberta Early Learning and Childcare Infrastructure Funding Agreement.
“Our government is committed to strengthening services for Alberta’s children and families, and we are proud to support BGC Fort Saskatchewan’s work to build a new clubhouse and create 124 additional licensed childcare spaces.” > — Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education and Childcare
Additionally, federal investments like the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) and early learning initiatives continue to alleviate the financial burden on families, helping to cut childcare fees and give our kids the absolute best start in life.
Industry Partners Step Up Big
A project of this scale requires a village, and our local industry leaders have truly stepped up to the plate. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to four major partners who each contributed $100,000 toward our expansion:
- Inter Pipeline
- Shell Canada
- Dow
- Pembina Pipeline Corporation
As our Executive Director Debra Colarosa noted, “Their generosity and ongoing partnership have been essential in bringing this vision to life, we would not be able to take on a project of this scale without the support of our industry partners. Their investment to BGC Fort Saskatchewan demonstrates a shared commitment to the wellbeing of children, youth, and families in Fort Saskatchewan.”
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to BGC Canada for their ongoing leadership, advocacy, and national support.

The Timeline: What to Expect
We are moving quickly to bring these new spaces to life! Here is a quick look at the roadmap ahead:
