How to Get Involved

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers who are ready to make a difference in the lives of youth and families in Fort Saskatchewan. To begin your volunteer journey:

Volunteer Application Process

BGC Fort Saskatchewan follows Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada national standards for our volunteer process, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all. Our volunteer process includes:

    1. Application: Complete a volunteer application form, which you can obtain by contacting us.
    2. Screening Interview: Meet with a staff member to discuss your interests, skills, and availability.
    3. Background Checks: Volunteers must submit a Child Intervention and RCMP records checks.
    4. Training: Volunteers attend orientation and training, including program policies, techniques for working with children and youth, and safety guidelines.

Volunteer Opportunities Available

Fundraising & Special Event Volunteers

Throughout the year, BGC Fort Saskatchewan hosts various fundraising and community events. Volunteer roles for these events may include:

  • Golf Committee: Assist in planning and organizing our annual golf tournament fundraiser.
  • Annual Gala Planning Committee: Help coordinate the details for our biggest event of the year, including sponsorships, auction items, and event logistics.
  • Fundraising Events: Support our club by volunteering at special events designed to raise funds and awareness for our programs, such as Orange Shirt Day, BGC Club Day, Pink Shirt Day, and more.
  • Community Events: Support our club with community events such as Legacy Family Park, Canada Day, Farmets Market, Ball Tournaments, and more!

Program Volunteers

BGC Fort Saskatchewan’s programs for children and youth rely on the support of dedicated volunteers to enhance our activities. Some of the programs where you can get involved include:

  • Out-of-School Program: Help with activities and supervision for children ages 4-12 in our after-school programs.
  • Youth Programs: Engage with youth ages 11+ during drop-in nights, workshops, or employment readiness programs.
  • Bus Driver: Volunteer as a bus driver for special trips and events.
  • Maintenance & Groundskeeping: Assist with keeping our facilities and outdoor spaces welcoming and functional.
  • Additional volunteer opportunities include: food bank pickup, Cobs Bread pickup, child-minding during workshops, and administrative (office work).

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is an opportunity for individuals passionate about governance and leadership to support BGC Fort Saskatchewan at the strategic level. Board members help guide the club’s vision and growth, ensuring we continue providing essential services to the community.
