Well-being and Development Programs
At BGC Fort Saskatchewan, we are committed to providing comprehensive support services tailored to the unique needs of our community’s children and youth.
Our inclusive programs, such as EmpowerHER, Expressing Healthy Emotions, Horizon, and Life Skills Building, provide safe spaces where young people can build confidence, express themselves, connect with peers, and gain valuable skills to navigate life’s challenges.
These programs empower youth to grow, thrive, and reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.
BGC Well-Being and Development Programs
EmpowerHER
The EmpowerHER Program is an inclusive peer group for girls and those who are trans, non-binary, or female-identifying. This program focuses on building body confidence, increasing self-esteem, and tackling anxiety in an interactive, fun, and supportive environment. Participants engage in workshops, group activities, and opportunities to foster friendships and feel empowered.
Expressing Healthy Emotions
This is a group where children are encouraged to learn new tools and skills for positive anger expression. Topics include feeling identification, communication, and problem-solving.
♦ Fury Fighters → 6 – 8 years
♦ Keep It Kool → 9 – 12 years
♦ Chill Out → 13 – 17 years
Horizon
For children and youth ages 6-12, Horizon provides a safe and confidential environment for children and youth to explore feelings due to family changes, such as separation, divorce, and blended families. Through expressive art activities and small group work, children and youth have the opportunity to meet new friends and share personal stories. (Please note: Rainbows and other opportunities to support families are still available to the community.)
Life-Skills Building
We offer Life-Skills Building opportunities throughout the year. These include courses, certification programs, and training events to prepare youth for adulthood and future careers. Programs include driver’s training and test preparation, First Aid certification, resume building, job preparedness training, and workshops that adapt to the evolving needs of our participants.
